Day 01

Wednesday : New Delhi Departure

Day 1 of the Palace on Wheels tour began with excitement and anticipation as passengers reported at Safdarjung Railway Station in New Delhi by 4:30 PM. As they arrived, they were greeted by the traditional welcome ceremony, which included the aarti and tikka ceremony, performed by the Palace on Wheels staff, dressed in their traditional attire. As the passengers checked in and completed the formalities, they were free to capture the moment and take photos with the staff.

Once the check-in formalities were complete, the passengers were escorted to their saloon cabins by their attendants, who briefed them about the facilities available in their cabins.

The Palace on Wheels is known for its luxurious facilities and amenities, which are comparable to that of a five-star hotel. As the passengers settled into their cabins, they were invited to the bar lounge for a complimentary welcome drink. As the train departed at 6:30 PM, the passengers were treated to a sumptuous dinner, served onboard.

Overall, day 1 of the Palace on Wheels tour was a delightful experience, offering passengers a glimpse of the luxury and elegance that they could expect during their week-long journey across Rajasthan. The train was on schedule, the staff was friendly and courteous, and the facilities were exceptional, setting the tone for what promised to be an unforgettable journey.

Day 02

Thursday: Exploring the Beauty of Jaipur, the Pink City

The second day of the Palace on Wheels journey began with a royal welcome at the Jaipur Railway Station. The group was then taken to explore Pink City, which is famous for its vibrant culture, historical monuments, and breathtaking architecture.

The first stop on the itinerary was the St. Albert Museum, a fascinating exhibit that showcases the rich history and heritage of Rajasthan. Next up was the Pink City Palace, which is a grand palace that served as the residence of the royal family of Jaipur. The palace is an architectural marvel, and its an impressive facade and intricate details. The next stop on the itinerary was the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Jantar Mantar, which is a fascinating sun observatory that was built in the 18th century.

After a brief photo stop at the famous Hawa Mahal, also known as the Palace of Winds, the group headed out for an afternoon excursion to the Hill Fort Palace of Amber. Once at the top, the group got to enjoy a delicious lunch at the 1135 AD Boutique Restaurant, which is located inside the fort premises. The day ended with some free time for shopping, after which the group returned to the train by 6:00 PM for a delectable onboard dinner.

Day 03

Friday : Early Morning: Ranthambhore- Tiger Reserve And Friday Afternoon: Chittorgarh- Hill Fort

The third day of the Palace on Wheels tour begins early at 6:30 am. The train proceeds from Sawai Madhopur Railway Station to Ranthambore Tiger Reserve for a thrilling jungle safari by 15-seater Canters. The safari lasts for a few hours, and by 9:30 am, the guests return to the train to enjoy their breakfast and lunch onboard.

Later in the afternoon, the Palace on Wheels reaches the Chittorgarh Railway Station at 4:00 pm, where the guests disembark to explore the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Hill Fort of Chittorgarh. The Chittorgarh Fort is considered to be the largest fort in India and boasts some breathtaking views.

The guests can explore the fort at their own pace and immerse themselves in the grandeur and history of the fort. As the night sets in, the guests can witness a Sound & Light program in the fort complex, which showcases the history and valour of the Rajput warriors of Chittorgarh. Later in the evening, the guests return to the train to enjoy their dinner.

The Palace on Wheels departs from Chittorgarh post-midnight, marking the end of an eventful day. With many memories of the jungle safari and fort visit, the guests can retire to their cabins, ready to explore more of the rich Indian heritage on the rest of the journey.

Day 04

Saturday : Udaipur- City Of Lakes

The day started early with an onboard breakfast, after which the passengers proceeded to visit the magnificent City Palace complex. Built-in the 17th century, the palace complex consists of eleven constituent Mahals, each with its unique style and architecture. One of the highlights of the visit was the Crystal Gallery, which houses the personal collection of the H.H. of Udaipur.

After the palace visit, the passengers enjoyed a boat ride around the world-famous Lake Palace Hotel. Located atop a small island in Lake Pichola, the hotel is a marvel of Rajasthani architecture and offers stunning views of the lake and the city.

For lunch, the passengers were taken to the luxurious Fatehprakash Palace Hotel, where they were treated to a sumptuous meal fit for royalty. After lunch, the passengers had some free time to indulge in some shopping and explore the Royal Gardens at Saheliyon Ki Bari. The day ended with the passengers returning to the train by 3 pm and departing for their next destination. As they enjoyed dinner on board, they reflected on the beauty and grandeur of Udaipur and looked forward to the adventures that awaited them on the rest of the journey.

Day 05

Sunday : Jaisalmer: Exploring The Oasis In The Desert

On the fifth day of your Palace on Wheels journey, you will explore the beautiful city of Jaisalmer, also known as the "Golden City" of Rajasthan.

After a delicious onboard breakfast, you will proceed to visit the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Jaisalmer Fort, one of the most prominent landmarks of the city. One of the highlights of your visit to Jaisalmer Fort will be a visit to Patwon ki Haveli, one of the largest and most elaborate mansion houses in the city.

Nearby, you will also visit a group of 15th-century built Jain Temples, which are beautifully carved and have a library hosting some of the oldest manuscripts of India. After a delicious lunch at a 5-star hotel, you will return to the train for a brief rest. Later in the afternoon, at 4:30 PM, you will proceed for an exciting excursion to Sam dunes in the Thar Desert. Here, you will enjoy a camel joy ride and have an opportunity to capture some stunning photographs of the sunset.

As the night falls, you will be treated to a delightful cultural program and dinner at a 5-star hotel. This will be a perfect opportunity to experience the vibrant culture and traditions of Rajasthan. Finally, you will return to the train by 10:00 PM and depart for your next destination.

Day 06

Monday : Jodhpur The Majestic Mehrangarh Fort

At 8:00 AM, the train pulls into the vibrant city of Jodhpur, the heart of Marwar. After a delicious breakfast, embark on a sightseeing tour of the magnificent Mehrangarh Fort, perched 125 meters above the bustling Jodhpur town. The impressive fort is approached by a series of gateways designed to prevent any enemy armies from charging with success. Inside the fort, marvel at the opulent Palatial Apartments (Mahal) overlooking vast courtyards. The fort complex also houses a museum with a vast collection of medieval weapons and royal dresses. Next, visit the Jaswant Thada, a collection of white marble royal cenotaphs built in the late 19th century. Later, explore the Umaid Bhawan Palace Museum, displaying the personal artefacts of the H.H. Maharaja of Jodhpur. Savour a sumptuous lunch at the Hanwant Mahal Boutique Restaurant before returning to the train. Depart by 3:30 PM, feeling enchanted by the beauty and grandeur of Jodhpur.

Day 07

Tuesday : Exploring The Avian World At Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary

Start your day early with a visit to the UNESCO world Heritage Site of Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary. Embark on an enchanting cycle rickshaw ride as you witness a plethora of 375 bird species, including local and migratory birds from far-off lands such as Sri Lanka, Europe, Siberia, China, and Tibet. The chirping of birds and the soothing sound of nature will surely rejuvenate your soul. After this fascinating experience, return to the train for a scrumptious breakfast before departing at 08:45 AM.

Day 07

Exploring The Majestic City Of Agra (noon)

At noon, the train takes you to the outskirts of Agra where you embark on a journey to witness the grandeur of the Mughal Empire at the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Agra Fort. You'll be amazed by the architectural marvels and the rich history that lies within the walls of the fort. After indulging in a sumptuous lunch at ITC Mughal Hotel, get ready to witness the epitome of love and romance, the magnificent Taj Mahal. As you stand in front of the flawless white marble structure, you'll feel the true essence of love and beauty.

Day 08

Wednesday: A Memorable Farewell To New Delhi

After an unforgettable journey filled with adventure and new experiences, it's time to say goodbye to New Delhi as the train makes its way back to Delhi Safdarjung Railway Station, arriving at 05:30 AM. Enjoy an early breakfast and pack your bags before checking out by 07:15 AM. It's the end of a fantastic tour that will be remembered for years to come.
